Kungs, born Valentine Brunel on December 17, 1996 in Toulon, France is a French DJ and record producer. His stage name originated from him searching for a translation of the word “gentleman” in various languages. At the age of five he learned to play the djembe. His musical influences include the genres of alternative and rock and roll including bands such as The Who and The Kooks. He specializes in the genres of house, deep house, and tropical house.
Kungs began to release music at the age of 17. His remixes of the songs “Jamming: by Bob Marley and the Wailers and “West Coast” by Lana Del Rey featuring Molly garnered him international recognition. Both songs totalled 7 million plays on YouTube and Soundcloud since their release. He then released a remix of Lost Frequencies song “Are You With Me?” The remix has gained over 17 million plays on YouTube.
In 2016 Kungs released his first EP entitled This Girl. In the same year he released his debut album called Layers. The album was released on the label House of Barclay and charted in at number 8 on the French Dance charts and number 4 on the UK Dance Charts. In the same he won an NRJ Music Award for Best Single Dance/ Electro for “This Girl” and a LOS40 Music Award for International New Act of the Year.
