Kim Gordon is an American bassist and multidisciplinary artist best known as a founding member of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth. Born in Rochester, New York, in 1953, she joined Sonic Youth in the late 1980s. With the band, she became an influential feminine figure in rock, and in the early 90s, she steered towards more politically charged projects like the band Free Kitten. In the early 2000s, ventured into cinema with “I'm Not There” (2007) directed by Todd Haynes. She later joined the supergroup YOKOKIMTHURSTON, featuring Yoko Ono, and founded a duo called Body/Head. Other critically acclaimed collaborations include a 2016 album with Alex Knost. Gordon made her solo debut with the single “Murdered Out” shortly after, and in 2019 she finally released the “No Home Record” LP, featuring production by Justin Raisen and Shawn Everett.
