EMA, born as Erika Michelle Anderson, is an American folk and rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born on January 28, 1982, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue her musical career when she was just 18 years old. There she became the guitarist of the band Amps for Christ up until 2004 when she formed a new band called Gowns alongside Ezra Buchla. The band released three albums and finally parted ways in 2010. Since then, EMA has been working on her solo career. That same year she released her first solo project titled Little Sketches on Tape which was followed by her first full-length album Past Life Martyred Saints in 2011. This album became very popular and earned her tours around both America and Europe. In 2014 she released her third album called The Future’s Void and her most recent release is the album Exile in the Outer Ring in 2017.
