Blair Elizabeth Brown, widely known as Blair Imani, is an author, social activist, award-winning educator, historian, educational influencer, and public speaker born on October 31, 1993, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She writes about intersectionality, gender studies, race and racism, sociology, and United States history. She earned a degree in history from Louisiana State University.
The New York Times, Allure, and Bustle have profiled her. She delivered the talk, Queer & Muslim: Nothing to Reconcile, at TEDxBoulder. She has lectured and presented at Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, Brown, and Duke universities. Blair serves on the Board of Directors for the Tegan and Sara Foundation. Likewise, she is on the Board of Trustees for Muslims for Progressive Values.
Blair is the LA Times Bestselling author of Read This to Get Smarter: about Race, Class, Gender, Disability, and More (2021). Her bibliography includes Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream (2020) and Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History (2018).
