Janet Mock was born on 10th March, 1983 in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. She is an author, storyteller, TV host, director, producer, writer, and transgender rights activist. Mock studied fashion at the University of Hawaii and later on received a journalism degree at New York University. When she was 18 years old, she had a gender reassignment surgery and has written 2 memoirs about her life as a trans woman. As an author, she is known for “Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More”, “Surpassing Certainty”, “Pass the Mic: Millennial Feminism”, and “On Christopher Street: Transgender Stories”. In the movies, she is known for producing “Pose”, “Hollywood”, “Janet” and “The Trans List”. She has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy, a Black Reel Award (twice), a Gold Derby TV Award (twice), a WGA Award, and won an Honoree at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood.
