Akilah Hughes Bio
Akilah Saidah Kamaria Hughes is an actress, author, comedian, YouTuber, and podcast host born on August 31, 1989, in Edgewood, Kentucky, USA. She earned a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting and Speech Communications from Berea College. She trained as a comedian at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York.
The LA-based writer has written for Fusion, HelloGiggles, SheKnows, Refinery29, Elite Daily, Oxygen, Allure Magazine, and Elle Magazine. Akilah is a Sundance Labs and USC MacArthur Foundation Civic Media fellow. She published her first book, Obviously: Stories from my Timeline, in 2019 through Razorbill.
