Keith Sweat Bio

Keith Sweat (July 22, 1961) is an American R&B swing jack singer and songwriter native to Harlem, New York. He is known for his hits, ‘I Want Her’, Twisted’ and ‘I’ll Give All My Love To You’. Sweat started his music career in 1975 as a member of a band called Jamilah. He stayed with Jamilah for 9 years, departing in 1984 to perform solo. Sweat performed at night clubs throughout New York and was able record two singles for an independent label called Stadium Records. It was only until 1987, Sweat was discovered by Vincent Davis of Vintertainment Records, Sweat released his debut album, ‘Make It Last Forever’ containing his biggest hit, ‘I Want Her ‘ which was nominated for Soul Train Award R&B/Urban Contemporary Song of the Year in 1989. The single rose to number 1 on the Billboard R&B charts. He then released his second album in 1990 titled ‘I’ll Give All My Love To You’, landing on the number 6 spot on the Billboard Chart, followed by his third album, ‘Keep It Comin’ in 1991, debuting on the Top 20 Albums chart. In 1992, Sweat discovered R&B vocal group Silk, aiding them in production of their debut album, Lose Control as well as production on Kut Klose’s 1993 debut album, ‘Surrender’. From 1994 to 2017, Keith was relentless in releasing albums year after year; ‘Get Up On It’ (1994), ‘Keith Sweat’ (1996), ‘Still in the Game’ (1998), ‘Didn’t See Me Coming’ (2000), ‘Rebirth’ (2002), ‘Ridin Solo’ (2010) and ‘‘Til the Morning’ (2011), ‘Dress to Impress’ (2016) and ‘Playing for Keeps’ (2017). While working on these albums, Sweat started his own radio show, ‘The Sweat Hotel’ which broadcasts popular R&B songs and features interviews from an array of R&B artists. Keith Sweat remains popular today at age 59, with 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
