Paul Oakenfold is an English DJ and music producer. He was born Paul Mark Oakenfold on the 30th of August, 1963, in London, England. His professional career started during the late 1970s, when he teamed up with Trevor Fung and began performing as a DJ at local clubs and venues. In 1981, Oakenfold moved to New York City, where he met several bands like Bobby Womack and Maze, before returning to work as a DJ in London. In 1988, he launched his record label, Perfecto Records. During the 1990s, he collaborated with several artists like Steve Osborne, Massive Attack and Dominique Atkins, releasing a multitude of remixes as a DJ, and several albums through his label. In 2002, he released his debut album, “Bunkka”, followed by “A Lively Mind” in 2006, and “Trance Mission” in 2014. Oakenfold is a multi-awarded DJ, he won the 2002 BMI Film Music Award for “Swordfish”, he won Best Techno DJ in 1999, and he was nominated 9 years in a row as Best Trance DJ. World’s Top DJ named him number one in 1998 and 1999. He was also nominated for Best Electronic/Dance album for “A Lively Mind” at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
