Joe Manganiello is an American actor, narrator, author, and director. He is best known for his roles in television shows, movies, and theater. Manganiello was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1976. Not long after moving to LA he landed his first acting gig in the 2002 film Spiderman, playing Flash Thompson. He has continued acting on the big screen landing roles in films including Magic Mike, What To Expect When You’re Expecting, Sabotage, Justice League, and voiced a character in Smurfs: The Lost Village. Manganiello landed several recurring roles in television shows like How I Met Your Mother, ER, One Tree Hill, and the role he is best known for, as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux on True Blood. In 2014, he released an independent documentary film about a male strip club in Dallas, Texas that he self financed, directed, and produced titled La Bare. It went on to win an award at the Maui Film Festival. Throughout his career he has been nominated and won several awards for his various roles in television and film. In 2011 he won two Scream Awards, a Saturn Award, and a NewNowNext Award for his role in True Blood. He was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award and an MTV Movie Award and won a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for narrating Pittsburgh Is Home: The Story of the Penguins.
