Coming from San Diego, California, P.O.D. (Payable on Death) was formed in 1992. The band’s members were Marcos, Wuv, Sonny, and Traa. The four-piece sings Christian songs as their way to share their faith. Throughout the ‘90s, P.O.D. performed on gigs and shows selling more than 40,000 copies of their EPs “Brown,” “Snuff the Punk,” and “P.O.D. Live” under the label Rescue Records.
Soon, they got a deal with Atlantic Records in 1988, releasing the major-release “Fundamental Elements of Southtown” by 1999. Hit singles from the album were “Southtown” and “Rock the Party.” It went platinum and earned honors like Best Hard Rock or Metal Group, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
