Boney James Bio
Boney James, also known as James Oppenheim is an American Jazz saxophonist born in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1961. In 1985 he started touring as a keyboardist for Morris Day and, shortly after, the artist became a sought-after session saxophonist, collaborating with acts like The Isley Brothers, Sheena Easton, and Bobby Caldwell. His solo debut came with 1992’s “Trust”. In 2012 he issued “The Beat”, which contained guest spots by The Floacist and Raheem DeVaughn. 2015’s “Futuresoul” topped the jazz charts and featured trumpeter Marquis Hill. Two years later, the full-length “Honestly” also topped the jazz charts, featuring collaborations by Jairus Mozee and Jerry Hey. In 2020, James released “Solid”, an album that included a hit featuring the talents of Kenny Lattimore.
