Ian McShane Bio

Ian McShane is an English actor, known for his performances in many iconic Tv series and movies. He was born as Ian David McShane on the 29th September 1942 in Blackburn, Lancashire, in a family with Scottish and Irish origins. McShane studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, sharing classrooms with Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt. In 1962, he got his first role in the movie “The Wild and the Willing”. He played in the BBC serie “Lovejoy”, from 1986 to 1994, but it was his performance in the HBO Western “Deadwood”, which ran for 36 episodes over three seasons, that he won the 2005 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Drama, as well as the Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations as Outstanding Lead Dramatic Actor. He has played and appeared in more than 15 series like “Miami Vice”, “Dallas'', “Madson”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and many others. He has also acted in several movies, among which “The Pillars of the Earth” adapted from Ken Follet’s best-seller of the same name. In 2018, he was nominated at the Critic’s Choice Television Awards for Best Actor in a Drama Series, for the series American Gods.
