Whitesnake are a venerated hard rock band from England with a career spanning five decades. Their most recent line-up is David Coverdale (lead vocals), Reb Beach (guitar), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Michele Luppi (keyboard), Michael Devin (bass), and Tommy Aldridge (drums), with Coverdale being the continuous lead. In Coverdale’s early career, he joined the rock band Deep Purple as lead singer after Ian Gillian left that position. Deep Purple, already an established band with worldwide popularity, toured extensively with Coverdale at the helm. By 1975, Deep Purple was calling it quits, and Coverdale moved on to form his own group.
Whitesnake first signed to the EMI label and produced “Trouble” which charted #50 on the UK Albums chart. Whitesnake albums eventually charted as high as #2 UK for “Come an’ Get It,” certified gold. Coverdale in later decades would collaborate with artists such as Jimmy Page, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Vai, Rudy Sarzo, Denny Carmassi, and Tommy Aldridge. Whitesnake’s songs get regular airplay on classic radio stations to this day.
