IV Jay is a pop-oriented R&B singer-songwriter who was signed to Atlantic as a youngster and has released the EPs IV (2018) and 5th Element (2020), as well as a few singles. IV is a Paterson, New Jersey native. Jay (short for Jaylynn, her first name) began playing keyboards at the age of 13, then began singing and posting renditions of current hits to her Instagram account.
She signed to Atlantic in 2018 after gaining an internet following with covers of Chris Brown's "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" and Childish Gambino's "Redbone," among other tracks. That year, at the age of 16, she made her commercial debut with "Thirsty." Soon after, "Pretty Wings" was released, which led to the release of IV in October.
