THE THE is an English musical band which was established in 1979 in Leeds. The members of the band include Matt Johnson (vocalist and guitarist), Adam Peters (drummer), and Andrew Duffield (keyboardist). Born on August 15, 1961, Matt Johnson has been the only constant member of the group since its inception.
The music band started after Matt Johnson placed an advertisement for a Bass Guitarist in 1979. He initially worked with Keith Laws and Tom Johnson, but due to some factors, they got separated. Since then, THE THE has seen several members (such as Johny Marr, brian Macleod, Earl Harvin and Spencer Campbell etc.) move in and out of the group.
In addition to the official members of the band, they also collaborated with artists who had unique qualities, such as Angela McCluskey – who was brought in for vocals on Deep Down Truth (2002)
THE THE achieved significant success in the United Kingdom, producing over 15 chart songs, with a substantial percentage reaching the top 40.
This experimental rock trio debuted with the album Burning Blue Soul, critically acclaimed by the music press. In 1983 they released their second album titled Souls In Paradise. The following year saw the release of their third album, Mind Bomb, which contained the hit song “Infected,” which reached number 7 in UK charts. A soundtrack LP followed this to their film debut “Mantrap.” The group has sold over one million albums in its career so far.
