Beirut Bio

Beirut is an American eclectic indie rock collective led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Zach Condon, born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1986. After traveling across Europe and being influenced by Balkan brass music, Condon started collaborating with Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost to record and release his debut full-length album “Gulag Orkestar” with the Ba Da Bing! label. “Gulag Orkestar” went out in 2006, shortly after Condon relocated to New York, and was met with critical acclaim. Condon then started making live performances with a changing roster of musicians, and in 2007 he released his sophomore effort “The Flying Club Cup”. The double EP “March of the Zapotec/Holland” followed in 2009 and charted in Billboard’s 100, featuring recordings in Mexico and electronic sessions, respectively. After signing with 4AD, Beirut released “No No No” in 2015 and secured the 46th spot in Billboard’s 200. Condon made a studio comeback after some years of inactivity with 2019’s “P, Gallipoli”, recorded in Italy.
