Grandbrothers Bio

Grandbrothers are known by their names, Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. They met during their studies at the Institute of Music and Media Dusseldorf in 2007. Erol who is a trained jazz pianist and Lukas a synthesizer at Access Music decided to join their musical backgrounds and discipline in 2011 and launched the project “Grandbrothers”. They reunited their passion for music into a combination of classical, modern, experimental sound design. They released their first single “Ezra Was Right” in 2014 and received the support of Gilles Peterson, who played their music on his BBC5 radio show numerous times. After the release of the first album “Dilation” in 2015, they followed in 2017 with a second album “Open” produced by the Berlin label City Slang. They performed in classical concert halls, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam7, and at the Montreux Jazz Festival8. They continued in 2019 with music composition for the cinema and contributed to the soundtrack of the film “Hors Normes”, by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, which was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. From March to September 2019, the Grandbrothers went on a tour in Germany along with ten musicians under the leadership of the Russian composer, violinist, and performer Mischa.
