Lee Fields & The Expressions Bio

Lee Fields, born Elmer Lee Fields, is a soul and funk American singer-songwriter and composer born in North Carolina known for his groovy tunes and collaborations with B.B. King and Kool & The Gang among others. Lee began to release solo music in his early career, releasing his first full length album with Angle 3 titled ‘Let’s Talk It Over’ in 1980. In 2006, he signed to Truth & Soul Records who paired him with their label house band, The Expressions, led by Leon Michels. Lee and the Expressions were instantly compatible which led to their first album in 2009 titled ‘My World’. The group went on a global tour after the release and began to work on their second album, ‘Treacherous’ which was released in 2011 followed by ‘Faithful Man’ in 2012. Lee Fields produced three more albums, ‘Emma Jean’ in 2014, ‘Special Night’ in 2017 and ‘It Rains Love’ in 2019. Many of their songs were featured on television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Atlanta, alongside movies such as Soul Men, Get On Up and Magic Mike XXL. Lee’s biggest single on Spotify is ‘Ladies’ from his ‘My World’ album with 11.3 million plays on Spotify. The now 68 year old is still releasing music with his latest single, ‘Regenerate’ released in January 2020.
