Alexandra Elizabeth Sheedy was born on 13th June 1962 in New York City. She fell in love with dancing after joining the American Ballet Theatre at 6. Although she was interested in dancing professionally, she was intrigued by acting. She studied the craft under Harold Guskin. At 18, she joined the University of Southern Carolina drama department. She began her career during this time with local productions but took a break to complete her BFA degree in acting. She became popular with her debut film, ‘Bad Boys,’ in 1983 alongside Sean Penn. She went on to star in many other films like ‘War Games,’ ‘The Breakfast Club,’ ‘St.Elmo’s Fire,’ ‘Short Circuit,’ and ‘Maid to Order.’ In 1998, she bagged the most significant role of her career with ‘High Art,’ Her stellar performance earned her several awards such as the Independent Spirit Award, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, and the National School of Film Critics Award.
