Crystal Waters is an American singer, songwriter, and producer born in Deptford, New Jersey in 1991. She is best known for her popular dance hits “Gypsy Woman” and “100% Pure Love.” She started writing poetry at 11 years old and by 14 years old she was inducted into the Poetry Society of America, the youngest person to receive that honor. She started her music career as a backup singer at a recording studio, but eventually wanted the creative control to write her own music. In 1989 she signed a writing contract with Mercury Records and in 1991 she released her debut studio album titled Surprise. One of the singles on the album “Makin’ Happy” reached number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart. In 1994 she released her second studio album titled Storyteller which sold over a million copies and was certified gold in the United States. In 2001 she released her third studio album titled 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection: The Best of Crystal Waters. Throughout her career she has had 12 number one Billboard Dance chart hits, a Billboard Award and a Vibe’s Music Poll Award.
