Producer Toro y Moi was born Chazwick Bradley Bundick on November 7, 1986 in Columbia, South Carolina. In high school, he formed two indie bands. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in graphic design. He also met fellow electronic music artist Washed Out while at the school.
Toro y Moi signed with Carpark Records and released his debut album, “Causers of This,” in January 2010. He followed up that album with “Underneath the Pine,” which reached number four on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, and the EP, “Freaking Out” in 2011. “Freaking Out” peaked at number ten on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His third studio album, “Anything in Return,” was released in January 2013, which reached number fourteen on the Billboard Alternative Album chart and number one on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and he embarked on an international tour later that year. He also releases music under the name Les Sins as a side project and a way to experiment more heavily with different sounds. He released the album, “Michael,” under this moniker in 2014. In April 2015, he released his fourth album as Toro y Moi entitled “What For?” His single off the album, “Empty Nesters,” got him a spot at number one on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart. The album peaked at number eighteen on the Billboard Alternative Albums chart and number ten on the Billboard Tastemakers Albums chart.
