Matthew Donald Berninger, better known as Matt Berninger, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead singer of the indie-rock band The Nationals. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, on February 13, 1971. Matt began his music career in 1999 when he created the band The Nationals with Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Bryan Devendorf, and Scott Devendorf.
As a member of The Nationals, he has released the hit singles I Need My Girl, About Today, Bloodbuzz Ohio, Don’t Swallow the Cap, and the albums Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, Trouble Will Find Me, and I Am Easy to Find. Matt has also had a successful solo career, and his discography includes the hit singles One More Second, Walking on a String, and Serpentine Prison.
