Jamie Collins is an American professional football player born in McCall Creek, Mississippi on October 20, 1989. He is currently a linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Collins played football in high school at Franklin County High School for the Franklin County Bulldogs in Meadville, Mississippi. He went on to play college football at the University of Southern Mississippi for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles from 2009 to 2012. In 2013 he was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round, 52nd overall, in the 2013 NFL Draft. He was signed to a four-year contract worth $3.75 million with $1.86 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $1.11 million. Collins made his NFL debut in the Patriots season opener against the Buffalo Bills. In 2016 he was traded to the Cleveland Browns for a 2017 third round draft pick. He was signed to a four-year contract in 2017 for $50 million with $26.40 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $5 million. On March 6, 2019 he was released by the Browns. On May 15, 2019, he signed with the New England Patriots. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 495 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, 23 pass deflections, 7 interceptions, and 1 defensive touchdowns.
