Jason Blum is an American film producer born in Los Angeles, California on February 20, 1969. He is both the founder and CEO of the production company Blumhouse Productions. He started his career as a producing director at Malaparte theater company. He went on to work as an executive at Miramax then an independent producer for Paramount Pictures. He produced his first film in 1995 titled Kicking and Screaming. Blum founded Blumhouse Productions in 2000. The company specializes in micro-budget films and gives directors full creative control. Blum has been a producer for the films The Darwin Awards, Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Tooth Fairy, Ouija, Mockingbird, Mercy, Stretch, Area 51, The Gallows, The Gift, Vision, The Visit, Curve, Creep 2, Get Out, Spilt, Incarnate, Benji, Upgrade, Bloodline, Halloween, Glass, The Hunt and many more. He has also been a producer for the television shows The River, Stranded, South of Hell, The Jinx, Sharp Objects, 12 Deadly Days, The Loudest Voice and others. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Black Reel Award, two Gotham Awards and more.
