Michael McDonald Bio

Michael McDonald was born on St. Louis, Missouri on February 12, 1952. He became part of the Steely Dan and played with The Doobie Brothers.

McDonald continued his career as a solo artist when the Doobie Brothers disbanded. He won a Grammy for “What a Fool Believes” which won the Record of the Year and the Song of the Year in 1979.

In 1982, he released If That’s What It Takes, his debut album. His other albums include No Lookin’ Back, Take It To Heart, Blink of an Eye, Blue Obsession, Motown, Motown Two, and Soul Speak. His last album dropped on 2008, and he made a comeback with Wide Open in 2017.

He was one of the featured artists along with Kenny Loggins’ in the Thundercat’s “Show You The Way.” In 2018, he released the Mr. Jukes remix of “Hail Mary.”
