Previously known as Dream, music producer and DJ Route 94 was born Rowan Tyler Jones on December 6, 1993, in Richmond, London. Route 94 emerged as one of the youngest players in the house music arena in the late 2000s, drawing attention to himself in nightclubs for his energetic tracks and melodious transitions between them. In 2010, Route 94 (operating under the name Dream) began experimenting with dubstep music, combining the sounds and techniques that were popular not only in London, but in Chicago and New York. Supported by dubstep pioneers such as Chase & Status and Skrillex, he released his EP This Isn’t House through OWSLA, his own label.
After getting some air time on various London radio stations, the DJ finally solidified the name Route 94, paying homage to the highway that connects Chicago and Detroit, where house/techno music was born. In 2013, Route 94 had the opportunity to create remixes for pop artist Katy B, just before releasing his debut album as his new identity, entitled Fly 4 Life. This was the catalyst for his signing to Rinse Records, and shortly after, his debut single “My Love” could be heard on BBC Radio 1. The single also performed extremely well on the iTunes UK charts and was a #1 hit on the UK Dance charts.
