Amanda Crew is a Canadian actress born in Langley, Canada on June 5, 1986. She is best known for her role as Monica Hall on the HBO show Silicon Valley. She started acting in elementary school after she landed a role in the musical Dragon Tales. She was cast in several television commercials after a talent agency started representing her. Crew went on to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. In 2005 she landed her debut role in a television show in the series Life as we Know It and went on to land roles in the shows Smallville, 15/Love, Diary, Whistler, Suits, Motive, Silicon Valley, and Lifeline. She made her debut in film in 2006 in the movie Final Destination and has also had roles in films like John Tucker Must Die, That One Night, Sex Drive, The Break-Up Artist, Knife Fight, Miss Dial, Crazy Kind of Love, Race, Table 19, A Crooked Somebody, Freaks, and others. Throughout her career she has been nominated for several awards and has won two Leo Awards and two Golden Maple Awards.
