Glenn Close is an American actress, singer, and producer born in Greenwich, Connecticut on March 19, 1947. Close started her acting career in theatre in 1974. She appeared in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Close was known for playing roles in musicals. She returned to the Broadway stage in 2014 in a revival of A Delicate Balance. In 1975 she made her debut on television in the show Great Performances and continued landing roles in the shows The Shield, The West Wing, Damages, Loui, Will & Grace, Saturday Night Live and others. She made her film debut in 1982 in the movie The World According to Garp and has since had roles in the films The Big Chill, Jagged Edge, Fatal Attraction, Immediate Family, Meeting Venus, 101 Dalmatians, Air Force One, Le Divorce, Nine Lives and more. Throughout her career she has been nominated for numerous awards. She holds the record for most Academy Award nominations without a win. Close has won three Golden Globe Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Tony Awards and many more. In 2016 she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame.
