Johnny Borrell is an English guitarist and singer born in Sutton, England on April 4, 1980. He is currently the front-man of the English indie rock band Razorlight. Borrell had an interest in music from a young age, and by 17 years old he was playing the bass guitar in a band called Violet. The band recorded an EP and played extensively around the Camden scene. After the band split, Borrell started focusing on his solo career and would cover songs by The Clash and Lead Belly. In 2002 he started the band Razorlight with Carl Dalemo, Christian Smith-Pancorvo, and Bjorn Agren. The band was signed with the record label Mercury Records in 2003 and in 2004 they released their debut studio album titled Up All Night. They have since released the albums Razorlight, Slipway Fires, and Olympus Sleeping. In 2009 a documentary on Razorlight was made by UK film director Charles Henri-Belleville titled Rock ānā Roll Lies. In 2013, while Razorlight was on a four year hiatus, Borrell released his debut solo album titled Borrell 1.
