Hailing from Tamanrasset, Algeria and Tessalit, Mali, Tinariwen is an African band that performs Tishoumaren and folk music. The group has been touring and recording music since 1979, and due to their nomadic movements, Tishoumaren has an ever-changing lineup of musicians and vocalists. In 2001, their official debut studio project The Radio Tisdas Sessions. Their discography includes the hit singles Toumast Tincha, Sastanaqqam, Cler Achel, Tenere Taqqim Tossam, Nannuflay, and the albums Tassili, Emmaar, and Amadjar. Tinariwen’s music was featured in the album World Music alongside Salif Keita, Mory Kante, Khaled, Jorge Ben, and Alan Stivell. They won a Grammy Award and a Libera Award for Best World Music Album.
