American fantasy author Rick Riordan was born on June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, and is the creator of multiple successful and award-winning book series. Initially a teacher of English and Social studies, he is best known for authoring the fiction book series titled "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" based on popular greek heroes. The novels have been made available in tens of millions of different editions all over the world, while having been translated into dozens of other languages. The first novel in the series, “The Lightning Thief”, was adapted into the feature film “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” in the year 2010. Moreover, other significant works by this author include “The Heroes of Olympus” series and “The Maze of Bones”.
