Steve Davis Bio

Steve Davis (born August 22, 1957 in London), popularly known as Steve 'Interesting' Davis, is a retired professional snooker player with six world titles.

After reading the book ‘How I Play Snooker’, at the age of 12, Davis developed his own technique and began playing at the Lucania Snooker Club. He toured the country and took part in various challenge matches against well-established professionals including John Spencer and Ray Reardon.

He became the world’s top ranked snooker player from 1983 to 1990. In 1985, Davis competed in the World Championship finals against Dennis Taylor. Three years later, he was named as BBC’S Sports Personality of the Year. Over the next two decades, he competed at the highest levels. In 1997, he won the Masters and in 2005, reached the final of the UK Championships.

In April 2010, Davis upset John Higgins to reach the quarter-finals of the World Championship. Unfortunately, he was beaten by Neil Robertson in the quarter-finals. In 2013, he appeared on ITV's Celebrity Show, “I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here”. He was the fifth celebrity to be voted out of the jungle. On April 17, 2016, Davis officially retired from playing snooker, and began working as a DJ on an Essex radio station at Glastonbury.
