Bell Biv DeVoe is an American music group that split from the group New Edition in 1989 in Boston, Massachusetts. The members of the group are Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe. The group’s name is a combination of the three members last names. They released their first studio album in 1990 titled Poison with the label MCA Records. The album charted at the number one spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart and sold over four million copies. They went on to release three more studio albums, including Hootie Mack, BBD, and Three Stripes. They also released a remix album in 1991 and a compilation album in 2000. The group started touring in 1990 after the release of their first album and has been on three tours, The Poison Tour from 1990 to 1991, Above the Rim Tour in 1994, and Three Stripes World Tour in 2017. In 1991 they received a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Album of the Year, Group, Band, or Duo and in 1992 they received an American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Band/Duo/Group.
