Christian Slater was born on August 18, 1969 in New York City. Slater began his acting on stage with his debut performance in the Dick Van Dyke’s The Music Man on Broadway. He was involved in other musical productions such as Copperfield (1981) and Merlin (1983) until his film debut in The Legend of Billy Jean (1985). A string of supporting roles in The Name of The Rose (1986), Young Guns II (1990), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) along with starring roles in Heathers (1989) and Pump Up the Volume (1990) cemented his status as a heartthrob among a female following. His career evolved into taking on more mature roles like Untamed Heart (1993), True Romance (1993), and Interview with a Vampire (1994), in 2015 he got major recognition for his titular role in the series Mr. Robot which got him a Golden Globe Award in 2016.
Christian Slater has notable work in charity; promoting humanitarian work in South Africa, supporting organizations such as Whatever It Takes, 21st Century Leaders, and Global Green. He even took the earnings he received from Interview with the Vampire when replacing River Phoenix after his passing and donating it to Phoenix’s favorite charities.
