Doyle Bramhall II is a blues rock guitarist and songwriter, who is also the son of the late Doyle Bramhall, a heavy player in the Austin, Texas music scene who was a member of the band The Chessmen and fronted The Nightcrawlers, as well as sharing a stage with Jimi Hendrix and collaborating with Stevie Ray Vaughan. Doyle grew up in this musical family and, after the tragic death of his father, has worked to carry on his legacy and perhaps carve one for his own.
Like many children of famous rock stars, Doyle Bramhall II has worked primarily in collaboration with his father’s peers, which include such artists as Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Jerry Lee Lewis, Willie Nelson, Gregg Allman, Miles Davis, and Amos Lee. Doyle’s work is credited on more than seventy albums by other artists, including the living legends mentioned here and many more besides. Doyle has also released four studio albums of his own work, all of them well-received.
