Anthony Marshon Davis Jr. was born on March 11, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. He plays the power forward and center positions for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended high school in Chicago, Illinois and then played college basketball at the University of Kentucky. Davis was selected as the first overall pick by the New Orleans in the 2012 NBA draft. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and has been named to two All-NBA First Teams.
Davis has won awards including the NBA all-star (2014–2017), NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2017, All-NBA First Team (2015, 2017), NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2015 ,2017), All-Rookie First Team (2013), NCAA champion (2012), NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player (2012), USBWA National Freshman of the Year (2012), SEC Defensive Player of the Year (2012), and the Jordan Brand Classic co-MVP (2011). He also earned a gold medal playing with Team USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
