Rare Americans is a music group from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band was formed in 2018, and its members include vocalist/guitarist James Priestner, guitarist Lubo Ivan, bass guitarist Ginger Chen, guitarist Jan Cajka, and drummer Duran Ritz. The band was nominated for the 2023 Juno Awards in the category of Breakthrough Group of the Year. They released their first self-titled album on 13th August 2018. Their second album, “Rare Americans”, was released on 5th March 2021.
In November 2021, they dropped their third album, titled “Jamesy Boy & The Screw Loose Zoo”, under Crooked City Records. The following year, they issued their fourth album, “Jamesy Boy & The Screw Loose Zoo (Deluxe)”. Their fourth album, “You’re Not a Bad Person, It’s Just a Bad World”, was released in July 2022. The band also released their debut EP, “Songs That Belong”, in December 2022.
