JAHKOY, born Jahkoy Palmer on March 23rd, 1994 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is a Canadian rapper and singer. At the age of 11 he began to write poetry and turned those early poems into raps. At age 14 he began to record under the stage name Raheem. He cites Andree 3000 and Pharrell as his earliest influences to the design of his music.
Under the moniker Raheem, he performed at clubs and festivals throughout Toronto including the notable York Urban Arts festival and the Manifesto Arts festival. In 2013 he decided to change his stage name to simply JAHKOY and released his first mixtape, Forward Thinking, which combined aspects of rap and singing. He collaborated with Willow Smith for the track “Nature” in 2015 and released a few singles, most notably the songs “Hold Your Hand” and “Still in Love”, which received regular radio airplay.
In 2016 Jahkoy signed a deal with Def Jam Recordings. He released his first single under the label, a song called “Odd Future.” The song was picked up on Beats 1 radio and Drake’s OVO Sound for regular syndication.
