Paul Weller, born John William Weller Jr. on May 25th, 1958 in Surrey, England is a British singer, songwriter, and musician. His love of music began with his exposure to The Beatles, The Who and Small Faces. He knew he wanted to be a musician after attending a Status Quo concert in 1972.
In 1972 Paul formed a band called The Jam with Steve Brookes and Dave Waller. In 1977 they released their first single called “The City.” The song charted on the UK Top 40. In 1979, with the release of the single “The Eton Rifles,” the group made the number 3 spot on the UK Single Chart. In 1982 the single “Beat Surrender” charted in at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. The Jam released 5 albums from 1977 to 1982.
After a sint with a new band called The Style Council from 1983 to 1989, he began a solo career that brought him massive success. In 1992 he released a LP called Paul Weller. His 1993 album, Wild Wood, resulted in a Mercury Music Prize nomination. In 1995 he released the album called Stanley Road which sold over 1 million copies. His most notable album was released in 2008 called 22 Dreams. Paul currently has released over 13 albums as a solo artist.
