Christopher Eccleston Bio

Christopher Eccleston was born on February 16, 1964 in Langworthy, Salford, Lancashire, England. He is a British actor best known for his role as Ninth Doctor in the British TV series of Doctor Who and for his role as Matt Jamison in The Leftovers, an American drama series on HBO. He has appeared in films and on stage including Let Him Have It, Shallow Grave, Elizabeth, Jude, The Others, Gone in 60 Seconds, 28 Days Later, The Seeker: The Dark is Rising and Thor: The Dark World. Some other appearances in British TV series include Cracker, Fortitude and The Shadow Lane. Most recently, he played the grandfather of a young boy with autism in the 2016 drama The A Word. In 2010 Christopher played John Lennon in the BBC production Lennon Naked. In late 2010 he starred in the anthology drama Accused for which he won an Emmy. He nabbed the lead role in Macbeth, a Royal Shakespeare Company production for 2018.
