Jamie Lee Curtis was born on November 22, 1958 in Los Angeles, California to two actor parents. She attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California before quitting to follower her dreams in acting, debuting in the classic horror film Halloween (1978) as Laurie Strode. The great success of this film lead to more roles in the horror genre in films such as Prom Night (1980), The Fog (1980), and Halloween II (1981), giving her the nickname “Scream Queen.”
She has also shown her comedic talents in films such as Trading Places (1983) and the sitcom Anything But Love, which aired from 1989 to 1992, earning a Golden Globe Award in 1990. She is also a children’s book writer, publishing When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old’s Memoir of Her Youth in 1993 as her first written work. Heading into the new millennia, she appeared less and less on the big screen after films like Christmas with the Kranks (2004) and Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008) before reemerging on television in NCIS and New Girl.
