Cheryl Fortune is a Houston based gospel singer, producer, and songwriter. She became well known in 2010 appearing on her then-husbands recordings. She was part of his Grammy-nominated recording group James Fortune & FIYA and played a role in the backing vocals, vocal production, and co-writing on the albums Grace Gift, Identity, Encore, Transformation, and Live Through It. She has also contributed backing vocals to a number of artists’ projects, including Good God by Shirley Caesar, Hello Fear by Kirk Franklin, Uncommon Me by Isaac Carree and others. Fortune was a co-writer on the Billboard number one hit “I Trust You” that was on the charts for 28 weeks. In September of 2017 she released her debut solo single titled “Fighters” that was about her survival of domestic abuse. She followed it up with the release of her debut studio album titled Simply Cheryl.
