Robert Earl Keen is an America singer-songwriter from Houston, TX. Keen has released 18 studio albums; he is often considered part of the Americana movement, but his musical style ranges from Texas country to rock to bluegrass. His first album, 1984’s No Kinda Dancer, was released under Sugar Hill Records and completely self-financed. His first album to chart was 2001’s Gravitational Forces, which hit number 10 on the US Country charts. Though he experienced little commercial success before Gravitational Forces, earlier albums had included some of Keen’s signature songs, like “The Road Goes on Forever” off 1989’s West Textures and “Corpus Christi Bay” off 1993’s A Bigger Piece of Sky. In 2012, Keen was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame, at the same time as Lyle Lovett and Townes van Zandt.
