Melina Kanakaredes Bio
Melina Eleni Kanakaredes Constantinides, or simply Melina Kanakaredes, is an American actress born on April 23, 1967, in Akron, Ohio. She is best known for her role in CSI: NY as Detective Stella Bonasera opposite Gary Sinise. She also played Dr. Sydney Hansen in Providence. Melina attended Ohio State University before transferring to Point Park College in Pittsburgh. She moved to New York City to pursue an acting career and worked in off-Broadway plays. The actress of Greek descent received two Emmy nominations for her work on the daytime television drama series Guiding Light as Eleni Andros Cooper. In 2001, she starred in 15 Minutes opposite Robert De Niro. Other film credits include Rounders, Dangerous Beauty, and The Long Kiss Goodnight. In 2010, she appeared as Athena in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
