Son Volt Bio

Son Volt is an alternative band which was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. It is made up of Andrew Duplantis, Jacob Edwards, Jay Farrar, Chris Frame, and Mark Spencer.

The band released their debut album Trace which charted in the US, climbing up to No. 166. In 1997, the follow up album Straightaways landed on No. 44 of the US charts. The Wide Swing Tremolo which was released in 1998, also entered the charts at No. 93. The band went on hiatus and one the albums they released in 2005, Okemah and the Melody of Riot, entered the US charts at No. 89.

Other albums by Son Volt are The Search, Notes of Blue, Honky Tonk, and American Central Dust. The band’s latest effort, Union, was released in 2019.
