James Van Der Beek Bio

James Van Der Beek is an American actor born in Cheshire, Connecticut on March 8, 1977. He is best known for his role as Dawson Leery in the television show Dawson’s Creek. He is also known for his roles in the shows Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23, and CSI: Cyber, and for his roles in the films Varsity Blues and Rules of Attraction. At 15 years old, he went to New York City to get an agent to start acting. He made his acting debut at 16 years old in a production of Finding the Sun at the Signature Theatre Company. He has also had roles in the theater productions Rain Dance, Shenandoah, and My Marriage to Ernest Borgnine. In 1993 he made his debut on television in the show Clarissa Explains It All and continued landing roles in the shows As the World Turns, Aliens in the Family, Dawson’s Creek, Criminal Minds, Ugly Betty, Medium, The Forgotten, Mercy, CSI: Cyber, Modern Family, Pose and others. He made his debut in film in 1995 in the movie Angus and has since had roles in the films Varsity Blues, The Rules of Attraction, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Final Draft, The Big Bang, Labor Day, Downsizing, Stolen, and more. Throughout his career he has been nominated for several awards and has won two MTV Movie Awards, a Teen Choice Award, a San Diego Film Festival Award, and a NewNowNext Award.
