Dan Barber is an American chef, entrepreneur, TV personality, and plant breeder best known as the co-owner and former head chef of the restaurants Blue Hill in Manhattan and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills. He was born in New York City, New York, United States, on October 2, 1969.
Besides his work as a head chef and co-executive of the Blue Hill restaurants, Dan is known for culturing specialty plants through breeding, giving talks on sustainable cooking practices, and sharing culinary content. Dan wrote the book The Third Plate: Field Notes on the Future of Food.
He has appeared in the TV series Symphony of the Soil, After Hours with Daniel Boulud, Fish & Men, Wasted! The Story of Food Waste, CBS This Morning, and Top Chef, which features Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi, and Gail Simmons.
