David Frizzell Bio

David Frizzell is an American country music singer born in El Dorado, Arkansas on September 26, 1941. He started performing at 12 years old in his brothers show. In 1970 he signed with Columbia Records and released the singles “L.A. International Airport” and “I Just Can’t Help Believing.” In the 70s he appeared regularly in on the television show All American TV Show. In 1981 he released his debut studio album titled Carryn’ On the Family Names. He has since released the albums The David Frizzell & Shelly West Album, The Family’s Fine, But This One’s All Mine, Our Best to You, On My Own Again, In Session, Solo, Golden Duets (The Best of Frizzell & West), My Life Is Just a Bridge, For the Love of Country, Confidentially, Frizzell & Friends – This Is Our Time, Frizzell & Friends – It’ll Be Alright, and Frizzell & Friends present Buddy Holly Country Tribute: Remember Me. In 1981 he released the song “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma”, a duet with Shelly West. The song was featured in the film Any Which Way You Can and won the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year. The duo also won the Academy of Country Music award for Vocal duo of the Year in 1981 and 1982.
