Virginia Madsen is an American actress born on September 11, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Virginia discovered her passion for acting from an early age by watching old black and white silent movies with Bette Davis and Joan Blondell alongside her brother Michael Madsen. She got introduced to acting by attending Ted Liss Acting Studio in Chicago and Harand Camp Adult Theater Seminar in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Her movie debut was in a movie Class she did alongside Rob Lowe and Jacqueline Bisset in 1983. A year later, she was a part of the great David Lynch movie Dune (1984) that put her on the map as the great potential of cinema. She played the role of Princess Irulan. The highlight of her career was the role in the movie Sideways with Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church. After filming the movie, she got nominated for the Academy Award for The Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role and Golden Globe in 2005. She is also well known for starring in the Candyman (1992), The Prophecy (1995), and Firewall (2006) that she did with Harrison Ford as the lead actor.
