Kamala Harris is an American politician, attorney, and the 49th Vice President of the United States. She was born in Oakland, California, United States, on October 20, 1964.
Harris started her political career as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California, where she specialized in prosecuting sexual assault cases. She then served as the Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017, where she gained a reputation for being tough on crime and fighting for the rights of consumers and working families.
In 2017, Harris was elected to the U.S. Senate from California, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American senator in history. In November 2020, Harris was elected as the first woman, the first African American woman, and the first South Asian American woman to serve as Vice President of the United States, alongside President Joe Biden.
